Ticketswap: Last-minute tickets for concerts, Anne Frank House & Co
Who hasn’t been there: you were too late to get tickets for your favourite concert, you had no idea that you couldn’t visit the Anne Frank House spontaneously, or your Amsterdam programme item of the day is simply sold out?
All these cases are of course super annoying every time. We all have a busy diary that is not based on ticket sales and it is not uncommon to simply not be on time. The ticket situation is particularly difficult abroad. Every country has its own rules and its own ticket sales pages, which you don’t always have a quick overview of. The Netherlands has developed the ingenious ticket sales platform Ticketswap for precisely this situation.
Here we present this secret weapon that gives you a good chance of getting last-minute tickets for your favourite event.
How does Ticketswap work?
As the name suggests, Ticketswap is a platform that enables the secure resale of previously purchased tickets. If you still belong to the generation that buys concert tickets on E-Bay classifieds, you can breathe a sigh of relief. Ticketswap is much easier to use, faster and more secure.
You can easily search on Ticketswap for the event for which you haven’t got tickets. These can be concerts, but also other attractions such as the Van Gogh Museum, A’DAM Lookout Tower, Anne Frank House, Rijksmuseum or Keukenhof. Virtually everything for which you need an admission ticket can be resold on Ticketswap.
If tickets are offered, you can buy them in 2 clicks via the app and they will be available to you immediately afterwards. It’s child’s play – and safe too.
What makes Ticketswap so ingenious?
One is the buyer protection provided by Ticketswap. The app scans the tickets to check whether they are legitimate. If you are really unlucky, you will be reimbursed by Ticketswap in the event of a fake ticket. We have been using the platform regularly for over 8 years and have never come across a scam. But it’s still good to know just in case!
On the other hand, Ticketswap’s 20% rule ensures that prices remain fair and are not driven up to immeasurable levels as on other websites. Sellers are allowed to sell their tickets with a maximum of 20% on top of the normal price. This means they make a small profit, but you don’t pay twice or even three times as much for a ticket. A very fair idea!
What’s more, ticket resale really does go right up to the last minute, and even beyond in the case of a party/event! You can set a ticket alarm for your favourite event, which will notify you directly as soon as a new ticket becomes available. This maximises your chances of getting one after all!
Change of plan? – Save money by reselling your tickets
Of course, you can also use the app the other way round. Perhaps you have already bought the coveted Anne Frank House tickets, but now your flight has been cancelled or something else has come up. Of course, it would be a great pity if they simply expired.
In principle, you can upload any ticket to Ticketswap that has a barcode. The app checks it internally for legitimacy and then uploads the ticket in two clicks so that someone can buy it within seconds. We all understand the principle of supply and demand; this also clearly applies to Ticketswap. So if you want to sell tickets yourself, orientate yourself a little on the prices of the other tickets (if available). This way you can enjoy maximum flexibility in your Amsterdam planning and also save money, win-win!
No tickets despite all the good tips?
Don’t worry, sometimes even the best app doesn’t help with very popular attractions and events. But that doesn’t mean that your trip to Amsterdam has to be boring. Quite the opposite!
How about a great city tour instead? The locals will show you the most beautiful corners of the city, including personal recommendations and insider tips. You can choose between a small group tour and a private tour if you prefer to keep to yourself.
For example, if you really wanted to visit the Anne Frank House but didn’t realise that tickets were sold out six weeks in advance, why not follow in Anne’s footsteps on an exciting Anne Frank Tour?
Alternatively, you could explore the idyllic north of the city, which is just a 5-minute ferry ride away. Hop on the Dutch “Fiets” with your personal guide and see a unique part of the city that remains hidden from most tourists.
