The 7 best vintage shops in Amsterdam
Amsterdam is not only world-famous for its beautiful canal houses, its tulips, coffeeshops, the red light district and the golden Gouda cheese. Shopping fans have known it for a long time: no other city in Europe is as inviting for a shopping stroll as our beautiful Amsterdam. A true shopping dream: small boutiques, individual fashion shops, bookshops, flower shops. Above all, our canal city has the highest density of second-hand shops in the world. You wouldn’t believe it! Our vintage shops in Amsterdam can therefore almost be considered cultural heritage…
The Dutch people are very frugal – but also very individual and fashion-conscious. And that’s exactly why every street in the canal belt has at least one second-hand shop. Here are our top 7 crème de la crème vintage shops in Amsterdam for your perfect vintage day!
Candy Store Vintage
Waterlooplein in the Jewish Quarter is famous for its huge flea market (daily from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm, except Sundays). Thus, it’s no wonder that one of our favourite vintage shops has set up shop right next to the lively square: the Candy Store – a real treat for streetwear lovers in the truest sense of the word. But it’s not just fans of 90s fashion who get their money’s worth here. Among the numerous special items of clothing from various sports brands such as Nike, Adidas, Fila and Reebok, you can also find high-end brands from Moncler to Burberry and Dior (Olala!).
Many unique one-offs are available here in the online shop:

The shop offers you a much larger selection (with the well-known, aromatic vintage smell, of course):

Marbles Vintage
Alongside the Negen Straatjes, the Haarlemmerdijk is the shopping street par excellence. What should not be missing between small boutiques with an original range and trendy restaurants and bars? A vintage shop, of course. We predict: Marbles Vintage has its finger on the vintage pulse. Because here you’ll find piles of fashionable dresses, trench coats, hats, shoes and crazy accessories.
Because Marbles Vintage has so many vintage treasures to offer, these showpieces are spread across three locations:

Zipper
Spread over two large floors is a real gem of a vintage shop in Amsterdam: the Zipper second-hand shop in the centre of the Negen Straatjes. But it’s not just its vintage delicacies from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s that make Zipper so attractive, but also its excellent location. After this fragrant shop, you can round off your shopping trip with a kopje koffie and a stukje taart in the neighbouring café (or as we would do: a coffee before and after ;)): One of our favourite cafés,Screaming Beans, is just two steps away. Marvellous!

Attention vintage lovers and bargain hunters: Europe’s biggest flea market takes place once a month on the old NDSM shipyard site in the north of the city. Yes, you heard correctly: the biggest one in Europe! Early birds in particular can discover unique retro fashion gems in the Ijhallen. Just browsing around in this special atmosphere is incredibly fun.
Admission costs five euros for adults and three euros for children. Don’t let that put you off, because it’s worth it! Don’t miss out on this unique experience during your visit to Amsterdam and the ferry to the NDSM site is free.

Episode
Both our city centre tour and our Anne Frank tour pass by at least one of the four Episode second-hand shops. After the tour, you can dive into the Episode vintage paradise with great anticipation. You’ll definitely find what you’re looking for here, because the selection is immense. Really I M M E N S E. And that’s why the Episode Vintage shops are probably Amsterdam’s best-known small second-hand shop chain with four locations.
We love the episode shops because there are so many bargains to be had here. What’s more, the shops are really well sorted and organised. In the episode shops, you won’t be overwhelmed by mountains of clothes or crumpled rummage tables. You can find colourful jackets, retro shirts and clothing from different decades in these vintage shops, as well as Yeti jackets. Yeti jackets? Yep, our latest acquisition was an oversized, broad-shouldered yeti jacket with absurdly long, shiny, silvery plastic fur hair. Exquisite choice!
