Your team has worked hard all year, delivered in the best case scenario, and now you want to celebrate with a nice company outing? Off to Amsterdam, dear ones! Our beautiful canal city is known for its diversity, its open and international flair, its endless cultural offerings and its nightlife. Thanks to the excellent transport connections, you can be in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the Dutch capital from many (major) German cities in just a few hours by train or even fewer hours by plane. Apart from its unique architecture, Amsterdam has so much more to offer. First and foremost: culture, culture and more culture!

A great company outing is all about the complete package. You want to discover a new city together, strengthen your team spirit and have a really good time. This definitely includes some great activities. We’ve put together our favourites so that you can experience an unforgettable company outing in Amsterdam!

7 great activities for your company outing in Amsterdam

1) Discover Amsterdam from the saddle of a bike

Sporting spirit is known to unite people. But a bike tour is also the most authentic way to get to know our canal city through the eyes of the locals. So hop on your bike and discover the most beautiful spots in the city centre or head to the idyllic north and simply relax for a few hours. No matter what you have in mind, your bike tour can always be customised to suit your individual wishes and areas of interest – amazing!

2) Go on a sailing trip on the IJsselmeer

The largest inland lake in the Netherlands (which is pronounced “Eisselmeer” by the way ;)) is not only perfect for relaxing on the shore, but also for great sailing trips. Whether you’re an experienced sailor or a real landlubber, you’re guaranteed to have a great time on a sailing boat as a company outing. Pssst… there are usually also drinks on board to make the trip feel even more like a holiday.

3) Visit an independent Amsterdam brewery

The Dutch share a great passion with us Germans: beer! Here in Amsterdam, you can not only visit the famous Heineken brewery, but also many small, independent breweries that offer all kinds of delicious speciality beers. A brewery tour is always great, especially for beer fans, but it’s also an interesting tour for anyone who doesn’t think the best part is the tasting. We can only recommend the Brouwerij ‘t Ij (in the east) and the Troost brewery (in the west and in de Pijp) if you want to take a more unconventional look behind the scenes.

4) Have a good time on a canal cruise

The absolute must in Amsterdam is and remains a great canal cruise. We have been accompanying company outings on the beautiful canal boats for many years and share our knowledge and insider tips about the city with our guests. Enjoy the unique Amsterdam flair from the water on your private canal cruise, savour the unlimited drinks and enjoy a good mix of exciting facts and time to chat. You’ll pass the most beautiful canals and the city’s most important landmarks along the way. There really is no more leisurely way to discover the city!

5) Immerse yourself in Dutch (art) history

A good company outing in Amsterdam naturally needs to be prepared for everything – including possible precipitation if the weather gods don’t play ball. A visit to a museum is always a great option for such days. Either follow in the footsteps of the famous Dutch artist Van Gogh or see Rembrandt’s Night Watch in the Rijksmuseum. If you want to delve even deeper into the art history of the Netherlands, grab one of our museum guides and ask all the questions that are on your mind.

6) Experience Amsterdam’s culinary delights on a great food tour

Cuisine is to culture as the bicycle is to Amsterdam. That’s why we have plenty of variety to offer! Whether you want to savour the delicious little bitterballen, the national dish “Stamppot” or simply the best coffee in town, Amsterdam has a lot to offer. So that you don’t have to pore over several travel guides, why not join us on a cultural food tour and combine the most exciting facts of a city centre tour with the city’s tastiest delicacies. The best of both worlds, so to speak!

7) Support a sustainability project

Did you know that Amsterdam is the 10th most sustainable city in the world? Not a bad title, is it? And it’s no coincidence, of course. Our canal city has come up with concepts from A-Z on how to make the most important climate aspects (e.g. transport, waste disposal, architecture) greener and more sustainable.

Whether your company specialises in sustainability or the first climate projects are still in their infancy, this topic is relevant to us all these days. In Amsterdam, you have countless opportunities to do your bit during your company outing. You can stay in a climate-neutral hotel, explore the city on foot and by bike, help clean the canals, plant trees and so on.

Feel free to get in touch if you would like to organise an activity in the name of sustainability – we are only too happy to support you with our knowledge! 🙂
